How to use Road Trip Fuel Cost Calculator

Formula used
Fuel used = miles ÷ MPG. Cost = fuel used × price per gallon. MPG and pump price must use the same selected US or Imperial gallon; no conversion is needed when both match.
Worked example
500 miles ÷ 30 MPG = 16.6667 gallons. At 3.50 per matching gallon, the journey costs 58.33. At 25 MPG the same journey costs 70.00.
What the result means
Use a measured MPG figure representative of the route. This estimates fuel only, excluding tolls, parking and accommodation.
